1️⃣ What is the Slash free tier?
The free tier lets you protect your first 10,000 incoming emails each month with Slash, for free. The goal: test Slash and measure its impact, or protect your most exposed employees at no cost.
Slash is Riot's email security solution. It plugs into Gmail or Outlook and uses language models (LLMs) to spot sophisticated phishing attacks that slip past native filters, then alerts the employee through an interactive banner directly inside the email.
👍 Good to know: the quota renews automatically every month. To learn everything about how Slash works, see the article Understanding Slash: Detection banners.
2️⃣ How do I activate the free tier?
If you have the Inbox module, you can activate the Slash tier at any time from:
The pop-up shown in the bottom-left corner of your admin platform:
Once Slash is activated, you choose which employees to protect and Slash starts analyzing their incoming emails.
3️⃣ Can I choose which employees to protect?
Yes. Just like on a paid plan, you choose the employees covered by Slash. You can therefore protect a subset of your company for free — for example your most sensitive profiles (decision-makers, finance, HR).
4️⃣ What happens when I reach the free quota?
At 80% of the quota: an alert email is sent to you with your usage statistics.
At 100%: a second email invites you to upgrade to a paid plan.
Every month, the quota resets automatically, with a notification email.
5️⃣ How do I upgrade to a paid plan?
You can request an upgrade to a paid plan from several places: your Slash settings, the quota notification email, and so on.
All these requests open the same path: booking a meeting with your Riot contact to define the plan best suited to your company.
6️⃣ Is the free tier the same as a free trial?
No. The free tier is a recurring free protection — your first 10,000 emails every month, with no time limit. It is different from a time-limited trial.
7️⃣ Does Slash work with my existing anti-spam tools?
Yes. Slash complements your existing defenses (Microsoft Defender, Mimecast, Proofpoint, etc.) without interfering with them: it relies on the Gmail / Outlook APIs and acts directly inside the mailbox, while those tools filter upstream.
