❶ What is a notification channel?
Notifications are sent to employees to:
Indicate that a new course is available
Remind of upcoming courses
Announce the monthly mission and follow up with employees who have not completed it (workspaces using Cyber Missions)
Alert after a DLP scan using our Sonar module
Alert after a data breach
You have two ways to notify your employees:
By email
By chat: Slack, Teams or Google Chat
❷ Set up your notification channel:
💡 Prerequisite : Ensure you have already synchronized your Microsoft AD or Google Workspace / Slack
👉 How to do it ?
Go to Settings > Notifications
Select the channel where you're certain your employees will see all notifications
Email notification: No action needed, the email channel is selected by default
Chat notification: Connect your preferred chat tool
Change your main notification channel: Click the “…” of your preferred channel and select "Set as main channel"
👍 Good to know : If you set a chat tool as the main channel but an employee doesn't have an account on that tool, they will receive the notification by email.
3️⃣ Modify the notification channel for specific employees:
You have two ways to proceed:
By selecting one or more employees
By selecting an entire group
👉 Modify the notification channel for one or more employees
Go to the Team tab
Select the employee(s)
Click on Change channel
👉 Modify the notification channel by employee group
Go to Team > Groups
Select the relevant group
Select the employee(s) within the group
Click on Change channel
4️⃣ How often are your employees notified?
Riot deliberately limits the number of messages each employee receives, so that notifications stay useful instead of turning into background noise.
👉 Mission follow-ups (Cyber Missions)
An employee who has not completed their mission may receive a follow-up when:
their company reaches 75% completion;
their team reaches 80%;
a rival team reaches 80%;
a colleague on their team has just completed their mission.
These follow-ups arrive on the employee's usual channel (Slack, Teams, Google Chat or email) and in their own language. They are capped at 3 per month — 6 if leaderboards are enabled — with a minimum of 4 days between two follow-ups.
👉 Sonar review requests
On workspaces not yet using Cyber Missions, an employee receives at most one automatic notification per month about reviewing their permissions.
👍 Good to know: if you would like to switch off mission follow-ups entirely for your workspace, send us a request via the chat and our team will take care of it.
