☝️ If you don’t have access to Cyber Missions yet, that’s normal. The update to this new system is coming very soon.
ℹ️ What Is the Cyber Mission Configuration For?
The configuration allows you to:
Launch the monthly mission cycle
Choose how employees are notified (Email / Slack / Teams / Google Chat)
Activate or deactivate team dynamics (Squads / leaderboards)
Define the "compliance" framework (if applicable) and escalations
☑️ Prerequisites
Have administrator rights on your Riot workspace.
Have a subscription that includes the Awareness module.
❶ Activate Cyber Missions
Open your Admin platform: hub.tryriot.com
Go to the Cyber Missions section from Settings → Cyber Missions
Activate Cyber Missions.
Once activated: a new mission is generated on the 1st of each month.
❷ Configure Notifications (Channels and Logic)
Employees can receive notifications via: email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat (depending on your configuration).
If you use a channel other than email, verify that the channel is activated in Settings → Notifications.
What You Need to Know
A notification announces the start of the mission.
Reminders can be sent during the month to encourage mission completion.
There are guardrails to prevent over-solicitation (limited number of reminders).
Some tasks may require logging into the user portal (e.g., Sonar tasks).
❸ Activate / Deactivate Team Dynamics (Squads) and Leaderboards
You can choose to activate team features:
Squads: employees group together and track collective progress.
Leaderboards: comparison between squads / teams.
If you disable these features, they will disappear from the user portal.
❹ The Impact of Your Awareness Program Configuration
Missions are based on the organization of your Awareness program, including:
The audiences of each course
The catalog courses added to your program
The monthly mission is automatically generated with the courses to complete for each employee based on their progress.
❺ Activate a Compliance Framework (Optional)
If your organization has obligations (e.g., certain awareness topics to prioritize for a certification):
You can impose a strict deadline from Awareness Settings by activating Compliance Mode
When activated, the first mission of each year is for compliance. All courses in this mission become priority and must be completed before the deadline.
Escalations can be configured to inform managers or HR if an employee hasn't completed their mission within the set time.
❻ Check the Employee-Side Rendering
After configuration, do a test with a user:
Receipt of the mission start notification
Access to the mission in the portal - app.tryriot.com
Display of tasks: courses, Sonar/breaches depending on your use case. The assessment only appears from the second mission onwards.
Visibility of squads/leaderboards if activated
🛠️ Quick Troubleshooting
"I'm not receiving notifications": check the activated channel (Slack/Teams/email), employee preferences, and that mission notifications are not disabled.
"Not all employees have the same mission": this is normal (different audiences and progress).
"Some tasks are not in Slack/Teams": certain actions require going to the employee portal app.tryriot.com
