📚 Your Riot activation journey

Every step to set up your workspace and activate Riot, in the right order.

Welcome to Riot! This journey takes you from setting up your workspace to activating your modules. It runs in two stages: first you prepare your workspace, then you activate Riot module by module.

❶ Before you start

💡 Prerequisite: to follow this journey, you need Administrator access to Riot. The Read-only role does not allow you to make these settings.

👉 Open your Riot administration platform

Open your web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari), then type the following address in the address bar at the very top of the window: hub.tryriot.com

You can also simply click the link above.

Sign in with your administrator account.

👉 Can't sign in?

You may not have administrator access yet. Ask your organisation's super administrator (the person who created your Riot account) to invite you from Settings > Members, then Invite.

The full procedure is described in Manage my Admins.

👉 How to use this journey

  • Each step below corresponds to an article. Click its blue title to open it.

  • The article opens in a new tab. Once the step is done, come back to this tab to move on to the next one.

  • Keep the hub.tryriot.com platform open in another tab: you will make the settings as you read.

👍 Good to know: follow the steps in order, and only those for the modules included in your plan.

❷ Set up your workspace

These six steps lay the foundations. They are needed whatever modules you use.

Almost all of them happen in the same place: the Settings menu, in the left-hand column of your screen. At the top of the Settings page, you will find several tabs:

General, Cyber Mission, Members, Workforce, Notifications, Domains and Billing.

1️⃣ Step 1: Sync your employees

Where? Settings > Workforce

Connect your directory (Google, Microsoft, Slack or Okta) to keep your list of employees always up to date, or import them with a CSV file.

2️⃣ Step 2: Validate your domains

Where? Settings > Domains

Validate your organisation's domains: this is essential to send your phishing simulations correctly.

3️⃣ Step 3: Set up your Cyber team

Where? Settings > General, Cyber team section

Name your organisation's cybersecurity contacts and choose how your employees can reach them in an emergency. This information appears in emails, courses and the remedial page.

Where? Settings > Notifications

Choose where your employees receive messages from Riot: by email (selected by default) or through a messaging app (Slack, Teams or Google Chat).

Where? Settings > Cyber Mission

Choose the content of the missions, where they are sent, the reminders to employees and the alerts to managers. Do not activate Cyber Missions yet: activation happens at the last step of the journey.

Where? Settings > Billing

Update your information, especially the email address that receives your invoices.

❸ Activate Riot modules

Your workspace is ready: now activate your modules, one by one. Each module is in the Apps section of the left-hand column.

💡 Prerequisite: only complete the steps for features that are part of your Riot plan.

Where? Simulation menu

Regularly train your employees to recognise phishing attacks, smishing and more.

Where? Awareness menu

Choose the courses in your programme and the employees who must take them. Your Cyber Missions rely on this programme.

Where? Inbox menu

Let your employees report a suspicious email in one click, and enable the Slash detection banners.

Where? Sonar menu

Connect your storage tools to analyse your external sharing, then define your control rules.

❹ Introduce Riot internally

While you activate your modules and before launching Cyber Missions, remember to communicate internally about Riot and Albert.

This will encourage your employees to get on board from day one.

❺ Activate Cyber Missions

⚠️ Important: in the previous sections, you prepared your Cyber Missions without activating them. Activation happens at this last step, once your employees have been informed.

Where? Settings > Cyber Mission, button at the top of the page

Launch your programme: a new mission is generated on the 1st of each month for your employees.
